I Made A Difference campaign wraps up

Mayor Ron Piazza presents a pin to one of the first I Made A Difference honorees, Older Adult Volunteer of the Year Gwen Travis.

As Ron Piazza ends his term as mayor of Lakewood on April 11, 2017, the I Made A Difference campaign that he initiated is coming to a close.

Upon taking office in March of 2016, Mayor Piazza put out a call for residents to submit nominations for recognition. “It could be someone who helps around their block or neighborhood, volunteers to keep an organization going, or just brings a smile and good cheer to people with whom they come in contact.”

In typical Lakewood fashion, the response from residents was overwhelmingly positive. Over the past year, over 2,300 residents and business community members have received a special edition Lakewood lapel pin. “I just want to thank all the great people who make a difference in Lakewood” said Piazza. “It’s been an honor for me to try to shine a light of appreciation on as many of you as possible. Please keep up your wonderful efforts.”
