Thousands See Lakewood Snowfall and Tree Lighting

On November 30, over 6,000 residents gathered for Lakewood’s 4th Annual Tree Lighting outside The Centre at Sycamore Plaza. A special photo collection covering the event is online at the Community Gallery at

The Lakewood CityTV video of the festivities can be viewed at www.lakewoodcityorg/treevideo.

Snow flurries were provided from overhead machines to the delight of children of all ages. Over a dozen gourmet food trucks, face painting, free carnival games and photo stations with colorful backdrops and costumed characters engaged attendees. Dickens carolers also provided a festive seasonal assortment of vocal melodies.

Two big highlights of the night: the lighting of the 24-foot-tall tree and an appearance by Santa Claus who listened to children’s requests and took photos throughout the evening.

The tree remains in front of the Civic Center through December 31 and is lit and plays holiday music every evening from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
